Getting Here

Thank you for choosing to explore one of the wonders of Alaska with Prince William Sound Glacier Cruises. We look forward to seeing you in Whittier!

Getting Here

Whittier is just 60 miles from Anchorage — about a 1 1/4 hour drive —along the scenic Seward Highway. If you're without a vehicle, both the Alaska Railroad and scheduled motorcoach services run daily between Anchorage and Whittier. Our reservations staff can help you book transportation if you'd like.

Keep in mind that the tunnel fees and parking fees are additional, and Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel only allows traffic one direction at a time. If you are driving, check the schedule and plan to transit the tunnel at least 1.5 hours prior to your cruise. This will allow you to park and check in with us an hour before your scheduled departure.

The Weather

From Spring through Fall, be prepared for temperatures ranging from 50° to 70°F, with the ever-present possibility of rain and wind. All our vessels offer heated, enclosed cabins, but to really experience the wildlife and glaciers of Kenai Fjords, you'll want to spend some time on the observation decks. Dress in layers, so you can adjust as needed.

Motion Sickness

The calm, protected waters of Prince William Sound allow us to offer our personal comfort guarantee. It is very rare that we have a customer who experiences discomfort due to motion sickness. However, if you think you might be susceptible to motion sickness, we recommend asking your physician about prescription and OTC medications that might alleviate any discomfort, so that you can enjoy your tour to the fullest!

Lodging

If you're thinking of overnighting in town, you'll want to consider staying at the Inn at Whitter. Built at the mouth of the harbor with an integral lighthouse, views from the Inn are remarkable, the architecture award-winning, and the service spectacular.

Halfway between Whitter and Anchorage, Girdwood's Hotel Alyeska, at Alyeska Resort, offers a completely different lodging experience—luxury in the midst of the wild. Experience legendary spa facilties, aerial trams, a saltwater pool, and mountaintop dining in a AAA four-diamond (♦♦♦♦) restaurant.

Our reservations desk can help you book a stay at either property. Just call toll-free, (877) 777-4053.
